ProPitch consultants provide support when called upon as experts, but more importantly, they believe in leaving a legacy and empowering ground staff to have confidence in decision-making based on their own data collection. Self-Assessments hold a future in our industry, so let us look at how they compare to Independent Assessments.

  1. WHO PERFORMS THE TEST?

Self-Assessment: With a self-assessment, the ground staff or facility manager can perform the tests using their tools and schedules. From essential to more detailed assessment types, the ProPitch platform helps complete a proper evaluation of the pitch in real-time. An independent consultant is not required.

Independent Assessment: As it sounds, this type of assessment requires an independent consultant to conduct the tests. After booking a consultant through the ProPitch app or portal, they visit the pitch to do the assessment. The results and report will be visible inside both the portal and app.

  2. WHAT ARE THE UPFRONT EXPENSES?

Self-Assessment: Our portal and App have a basic license fee, but ground staff needs access to the right equipment. ProPitch offers different kit solutions depending on client needs, but the introductory package is typically low cost and enough to address common pitch issues. Our consultants are also there for remote support and feedback through data analysis.

Independent Assessment: In situations where expert advice is required or equipment is not available at the venue, it can make more sense to hire a consultant. Rates are negotiated based on time, travel, or volume if more than one pitch or visit is needed. This type of evaluation is an investment in professionals who minimize risks in situations where there is little room for error.

  3. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

Self-Assessment: By far, the most powerful benefit of self-assessment overall control. This option empowers a facility to call all the shots regarding schedules, testing levels (introductory to pro), and data management. Self-Assessment is a long-term investment with huge returns. Teams will learn how to control their data, develop data collection, and analyze it. This knowledge makes ground staff more proactive so they can act on predicted outcomes early.

Independent Assessment: By far, the most compelling reason to use the Independent Assessment is peace of mind. When things must go smoothly, a handover for a tournament or to an owner -- or an emergency like a disease outbreak -- it is highly recommended to call in experts. If a team has a ProPitch Kit, a consultant can provide training on conducting tests or using the equipment. They usually provide expert feedback on critical issues such as diseases, pests, fertilizer plans, or any contractor's external maintenance or quality control. Proactive decisions are possible using the data as a guide.

  4. ARE PORTALS AND APPS REQUIRED?

Self-Assessment: Yes. The portals and apps are the software component that completes the ProPitch Kit.

Independent Assessment: No. A consultant will provide the data required. No additional portals or apps are needed, but it is possible to request access to results through ProPitch software, and it is typically available without additional charges.

  5. HOW OFTEN IS TESTING REQUIRED?

Self-Assessment: Ground staff most commonly decide to assess weekly or monthly, depending on their preferences. Multiple staff members can have access at the same time on different devices.

Independent Assessments: Experts recommend an independent assessment every four months or before critical dates such as handover, a competition, a key match, or renovation. It is also ideal to test
